Mountain Dew - Pitch Black: Too Tart?

The black grape flavor leave such overwhelming taste in my mouth. There are better tasting grape soda out there, even if it is not a major brand name.

It's not too tart IMO... More along the lines of too awsome. Actually, all the varieties of Mountain Dew are good, if you ask me. Does that make me a little stereotypical as a gamer?

Only if you drink Jolt.

The other flavors of Mountain Dew are alright, but the Pitch Black is way too sweet and way too powerful a taste, not subtle as LiveWire or Code Red. If I wanted that, I'd just drink 100% grape juice (or chow down grape jam).

On the other side of the spectrum, 7up Berry Plus taste more like carbonated water with a hint of berry rather than Berry-flavored 7up.

Take a can of Pitch Black and a glass full of ice. Pour the soda into the glass so that you get a real good head of foam... sky blue foam... on top of purplish black soda... :uhoh:

I tried it once, and I won't touch the stuff anymore. I don't like grape soda much to begin with.

See, in my opinion, it's just not grape enough. Tastes nothing like a grape soda. It's just... there. :(

As for sweet, I didn't get that. It's no worse than regular Dew.

I think "subtle" is not in the vocabulary of the major soda manufacturers. The mass market sodas seem more flavored with sledgehammers than anything eles. They don't make the stuff for those with "discerning palates", until you get into the smaller names.

I haven't seen it... could be since I am in Canada. Oh well.... it'll get here eventually.
As for what it tastes like, I'll give it a shot when I Do see it... hell if I can stomach that vileness that was Sprite Ice, I can handle anything. Whoever thought that was a good idea should be placed in a burlap sack and beaten with reeds.

I actually thought it was pretty mild, so far as grape sodas, go. About as close to true grape as regular Mt. Dew is to a true "citrus" flavor.

Well, for those of us who like it, we better stock up. It's a "limited edition" only version, and probably won't be back until next fall. I wish they'd bottle the Baja Blast Mt. Dew flavor that is thus far exclusive to Taco Bell. I LOVE that stuff!
