Mounted Archer

Haha, Darklone. It took me about 2 seconds to realize what you were saying. Before that, I figured you were "slow", and after that... well, I'm still giggling. :)

A few comments.

#1 Look seriously at the "Talenta Warrior" feat in RoE. It is very handy.
#2 You could go barb 1/fighter 4 and master thrower for boomerangs. This assumes you aren't using the multi-classing restrictions. If you are you should _really_ try to talk your DM into having Barbarian be the preferred class of the halflings of the Talenta plains (which it really should be). If you fail at _that_ I guess replace barb with rogue or fighter (if you take fighter all 5 levels your 7th level should be fighter 6 and you can take of the the feats listed at 6.)

Build:
1: Barb 1/Talenta Warrior
2: Fighter 1/WF: Boomerang
3: Fighter 2/ Point blank, Precise shot
4: Fighter 3
5: Fighter 4/WS: Boomerang.
6: Master Thrower 1/(trip shot)/(quick draw)/Boomerang Ricochet, Boomerang Daze or Farshot
7: Master Thrower 2
8: Master Thrower 3 (I'd go two-in-one as mounted targets tend to qualify nicely)
9: Master Thrower 4 /Boomerang Ricochet, Boomerang Daze or Farshot
10: Master Thrower 5 (weak spot!)
Because of Talenta Warrior, you are going to be still an effective HTH fighter (well that plus a clawfoot!).

Disadvantages:
* Obviously your damage is limited, as is your range. Boomerangs sorta suck until higher levels.
* No mounted archery feat. This is annoying. If you get bonus feats for flaws, I'd jump on the mounted combat, mounted archery bandwagon. Then halfling outrider might also be an option...

Advantages:
*Your WF and WS also apply to your HtH weapons (due to Talenta Warrior), so you are still quite good in HtH.
* Note the +1 mounted damage granted by Talenta Warrior. Also, adding the action point die to damage can occasionally be REALLY handy when you *need* the damage.
*At 6th level the ranged trip is beyond handy. It _will_ work very nicely against horses and mounted warriors (which it will dismount!). With Ricochet you can perhaps get both in a single attack. If you really are fighting lots of mounted baddies, the ricochet/trip is HUGE beyond belief. (Go for the riders first, not the horse if they have mounted combat feats.)
* At 10th level, if you have Boomerang Ricochet, Boomerang Daze, and two-in-one you are beyond scary and moving into broken if your DM allows Ricochet and two-in-one to stack. You _will_ trip 2 people every round, and maybe 4. You will likely daze at least 1 or 2. Damage will be low, but we are talking about up to 8 attacks (which are touch attacks!).

While the Master Thrower sounds good, hasn't there been some WotC erratum on the Prc? I seem to remember something, but I can't pinpoint it right now.
Perhaps that the Master Thrower plus the Invisible Blade in the CW were originally posted by Sonofapreacherman as a 10 level PrClass and therefore the Invisible Blade prerequisites have been "wrong"?

I don't recall any other errata about the Master Thrower.

Not that I know of.

There are a few bits and pieces which are likely overpowered. The only errata seems to be on the palm throw trick.

You should aim for a small-size race (halfling, gnome, goblin) so that you can bring your mount anywhere.

A halfling druid with the druid substitution levels gets a pretty nice mount (riding dog) as his animal companion. The only issue is then getting prof with the longbow. I'd suggest Ruathor levels.

Halfling outrider is an excellent PrC, but sticking with druid is also totally viable.

This wasn't a halfling, but it was the most powerful character I've ever played, so hopefully you can glean something from it.

Forgotten Realms setting. The DM allowed Unearthed Arcana flaws and FR regional feats. 28-pt buy. I played the character from 5th level, and he died just when he would have reached 9th.

Grim Morgensen
Human Ranger 6/Beastmaster 3

Str 14 (13 +1 at 8th level)
Dex 22 (17 + 1 at 4th level +4 enhancement)
Con 14
Int 8
Wis 12
Cha 8

Flaws: Slow (half base speed), Poor Reflexes. My justification was that he had broken his leg once, and hadn't set it right. Which was why he almost never got off his horse.

Feats: Saddleborn (FR regional feat, allows you to take 10 on ride checks, and to make a ride check 1/round in place of a reflex save), Nature Bond (+3 to effective level of animal companion, to a maximum of my actual character level), Point-Blank Shot, Precise Shot, Rapid Shot, Mounted Combat, Multishot, Skill Focus (Handle Animal) (required for beastmaster), Weapon Focus (composite longbow).

I wore +2 mithral breastplate, and managed to afford a +2 bow, gloves of Dex +4, a +1 buckler, and an amulet of natural armor +1. I know, slightly more than typical wealth for that level, but we earned it. My attack bonus was something like +18, and my AC was 25 (or 29 if I took cover behind my mount, which I often did).

My mount was originally a crazygonuts heavy horse that would just wade into combat and trample weak foes. I eventually had to switch to a dire eagle because the rest of the party got giant owl mounts, but I can't say I was sad to be able to stay completely out of the reach of many of my opponents.
