Mounted combat is the weird

But.... David Bowie! Ridiculous?!
I'll agree. I do like Halflings on Dinosaurs. But it's my understanding that Halflings are a little bigger and less ridiculous in this edition. I have a German Shepherd, and there's no way anything could ride him for more than a few minutes before he would get tired. 8 or more hours? HA!

I'm going to have to agree. They should be riding War-goats.

I mis-read this as were -goats. Which, frankly, is awesome. Halfling mauraders riding were-goats. Or perhaps lycanthropic halfling were-rat bandits riding were-goats. The terror of the Borderlands.

I've got to remember to throw this into my next campaign...

No, no, no. Halfling were-goats riding other halfling were-goats, of course they take turns so it's fair :).

wait if the (new, larger) halfling can't ride a medium sized dog (which is fine as long as goblins can still ride Wargs.) then they can't ride each other for transport (just for fun). They will have to ride dire piggies or ogre/were-goats. oooh or troll/were-goats for the irony.

Count me among those who now want to see Halflings riding "War-Goats".

But until we get those stats, do we at least have Dire Wolves in the MM?

That could solve the "Halflings must ride dogs" trope.

So in rough terms how does 4e mounted combat work? I want something crunchy here not adjectives/adverbs.

You have a single pool of actions. You must choose who gets the standard action, move action, and minor. Some mounts get attacks under special conditions if you have the mounted combat feat. Mounted combat rules and its feat is in the dmg, not the players handbook. The mount takes penalties on its attacks if you don't have mounted combat. I dont know if the rider takes any penalties. monsters appropriate as mounts are listed under its type. most mounts have powers it grants the rider if the rider is x level and has mounted combat feat.

*mounted combat is in the player handbook but the rules for mounted combat are in the dmg*

*edit
