Has anyone seen any good movies lately?

I can't even remember the last movie I saw at the theatre. EDIT - No, yes I can. Wedding Crashers - HI-LARRY-OUS! The last movie I watched at home was Robots and I rather enjoyed it.

Sadly, no. :(

I have kind of been disappointed in both areas lately.

Why do you say that?

I have kind of been disappointed in both areas lately.

Well, I saw Corpse Bride a few weeks back with the fam, and thought it was a good flick. I really wanted to see Serenity last weekend but I didn't have the moolah. I recently acquired the DVD for Firefly, the former F0X series that the movie Serenity is based on and "wow!" It is really, really gripping sci-fi! I'm hoping to finish them all before going to see Serenity this weekend.

As for books, I've been reading half a dozen RPG books and going through the second of the Game of Thrones books. I've read it before, but it still sucks me right in.

Current books that I'm reading:

Game of thrones (100 pages left)
Dune: Battle of Corrin (50 pages left)
Cryptonomicon (80 pages left)

All three are very good books.

Movies:
Just recently bought and watched:
Hitchiker's guide to the galaxy
Steamboy

I did see Serenity and liked it quite a bit. I'm not a super-Whedon fan or anything, but I really like the concept of the show/movie and it is pulled off pretty well.

Book wise I have been reading a lot of Wendell Berry lately, and it the whole luddite, back to the land stuff is really speaking to me. I am also rereading 1984 and finding it much creepier than it was originally. Along the same lines I would recommend The Traveler by John Twelve Hawks. It's an interesting premise, and I found that it was a pretty good read.

Yeah, that's the same boat I am in. I don't really have any experience with Whedon, having never watched Buffy or Angel, but I am really loving this show. What a blast. In fact, I loved it so much that I ordered the new RPG that came out this month. Now, I have to find more room on my shelves!

King Kong

Have you seen "Toy Story"? That was scripted by Whedon.

Anyway, I saw the Trailer for KING KONG yesterday and it looks pretty darn awesome!

Whedon is very talented. My only criticism of his work is not really his fault. I just think Buffy and Angel etc. got consumed by the money-grubbers. Instead of letting the series end when it probably should have, it was extended out lifelessly in the quest for more cash. It is a shame that more shows don't have an ending date that they stick to.
