Moving from one Prime Material (Faerun) to another (Scarred Lands).

I have to say it but I think that your paladin is very weak willed. Paladins are suppose to be made of sturdier stuff than that. They don't lose hope even when faced with death. They are suppose to have that never give in spirit. To use a real world example it's having faith that even though you maybe cut off you still press on.

I'm not saying he wouldn't go on. He would triumph in the face of adversity. He would still live his life as best he could. But it has been stated that the PCs would be cut off completely from their gods. That means no more spells granted. That means all prayers will fall on deaf ears.

Taking your real world example, regardless of where I moved I would still have my faith because I know that my gawd is listening to me. Although I may not see or hear my gawd, I have faith that he/she is there, ready to guide me.

In Faerun, gawds are real and they are seen. They come in visions, they travel the land, they are tangible. I KNOW that Torm is there and will help me. So I go to a different world altogether and, suddenly, I have abosuletly NO contact with Torm. None. I KNOW he is not there and, it is quiet possible that, I will never see/hear from him again.

While I would search for a way home, my purpose for being, my existence, have just completely and utterly lost to me. That is why I stated he would loose his reason to exist, because he, literally, would have. But he would try like hell to bring him back.

Severing of ties...

While it can be tough, the fact is it can also be liberating, as without the weave to inhibit an arcane spellcaster, he doesn't have to worry about how his magics will affect his lifestyle, since there is no "guardian" of the magics in the Scarred Lands. As for the Divine casters, yes it would be an awful experience BUT they could learn to get over ESPECIALLY if one or more the gods of the Scarred Lands takes an interest in them (and believe me they WOULD). Paladins though would still probably have to serve Corean in some way, even if they served a NG god like Lathander or even a CG like Sune. What it would mean is an initial period of disorentiation along with a loss of spell powers. Now a paladin's SPECIAL powers, like lay on hands and such, would STILL function, but they might want to consider Corean's needs too.

btw, reveal, SL gods are real and exhibit MORE power on the lands SINCE they just fought a war 150 years ago. So believe me, if your Paladin/Cleric wanted a LG god, Corean would DEFINATELY like talking with him.

Osis, glad you like my set up. :)

I think this has plenty of scope for roleplaying for the divine spellcasters. My DM converted his campaign from 2e FR to 3e SL. He was going through some health problems at the time so the plot change was a little rough and not useful to you.

My suggestion is to let the divine spellcasters pray for their spells as usual, but gaining the lowest level spells only the first time. But they start having visions or dreams of some power answering. When the neareest equivalent god realizes what this petitioner is, send them more visions and spells specific to Relic & Rituals. Scarn's very active gods could send a vision to an existing SL cleric and send them to the new arrivals, thus giving them a mentor and guide to their strange new world.
