MTG Convershens

That goes second for me.

Blackshirt5: I guess you'll just have to wait, converting the slivers abilities are not as easy as it looks, for example the growth ability of the muscle sliver, how do you convert that, not to mention the first striking talon slivers, the trampleling Horned Slivers, not to mention Crystalline Slivers, acidic slivers, mindwhip slivers, cloth slivers, winged slivers, the list is endless, so far I've only converted the metallic (quite easy.) and the 'proto'-sliver (Sliver Token). In addition to the almost 20 different slivers, i have to write down their descriptions, their society, and other assorted styff, not to mention their ability to 'share' abilities, hpw far apart can a sliver be to the one that grants and ability and still gain the benefits of the ability, it's quite hard, actually. No hard feelings, but it will take a lot of time.

Expect to see the Kezzerdrix sometime during december though. :D

I'll do avens!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please give me ideas as to wat HD to put avens at (I'm thinking 2 to three but well.......) I already know wat their favored class should be (cleric) and I'm pretty sure wat their stats are going to be like. Plz give me ideas as to wat to do as far as the Avens go.
(In the MTG books I've been sort of cheering for the Order, regardless of the fact that most of them are tyrrants and lousy fighters, I love underdogs; or underbirds.) :D

hmmm...

Aven
Monstrous Humanoid (Aven)
2 HD

Alignment: Usually LG,

Favored Class Fighter although a large number of avens are clerics or even wizards.

That should cover them, remember that the largest number of avens are soldiers, which would best be shown with the fighter class. Also in addition to a number of clerics and wizards among their number, a small number of avens are spirit crafters (shamans or druids) and as serve as the spiritual link between the avens and their ancestors.

Later,

Alright, I understand the difficulties of converting the Sliver powers, I tried a while back, I dug up some of my old MTG cards, mostly slivers, but it was just too difficult for me. PLus, I prefer working on my own homebrewed creations.

Blackshirt: Yeah, but I am going to do it, it will just take a very long time to do it properly, and I hate doing a half-assed job. :D If you have any homebrewed creatures you want to share and have critiqued, feel free to post them (In their own thread of course.)

Aven
Medium size monstrous humanoid(Aven)
2d8+2(11 hp)
Init:
Speed: 20 ft. fly 60 ft (good)
AC:15 (+2 leather,+2 dex, +1 natural)
Attacks: Glaive+2 meele, or Crossbow(heavy) +3 ranged
Damage: Glaive 1d10+1 Crossbow1d8
Face/Reach: 5ftby5ft/5ft(10 feet with glaive)
Special attacks:
Special qualities: Low light vision
Saves: Fort+1 Ref+5 Will+4
Abilities: Str:13 Dex:14 Con: 12 Int:10 Wis: 12 Chr:8 Skills: +6*spot, +5 search, +4 intimidate, +6 listen, +1 diplomacy.
Feats: Flyby Attack
Climate/terrain: Any temperate plains or hill
Orginazation: Scouting party (5-6 plus one or two wizards or clerics of 1st or second level)
Treasure: Standard
CR:1
Alignment: Usually LN or LG

Avens are spirited, while somewhat showy and arrogant bird people, most of whom long for order, justice, and peace in the world. However, an Aven's heart, and lust for order, leaves plenty of room for them to become control freaks or cruel dictators. Most however, are honest, honorable , and good at heart.

Favored class: Fighter, most aven civilzations are very maritial and organized, which makes the fighter class a natural choice for most avens. Clerics and wizards are common among them as well.
Combat: Avens fight in groups, trying to outflank the enemy, while the mages among them send defensive magic to their troops to help reinforce and heal them.
Skills: Avens get a +8 bonus to spot checks during daylight.

Not bad, but let's see...

Creature type: Add subtype (Aven)

Speed: land speed should be reduced to 20', but flight speed should be increased by the same amount. (to 60'), manouverability remains unchanged.

AC: Aven should have a natural armor bonus due to their feathers, I think a +1 natural armor bonus should suffice.

Attacks: should be glaive or some ranged attack (crossbow perhaps?), gauntlets does not make sense.

Damage: you have listed glaive as their weapon under attacks, but longsword under damage, which is it? I suggest you go with the glaive, as it makes more sense for a flyer to use weapons with reach.

Special Attacks: none

Special Qualities: In addition to the Monstrous Humanoid special qualities (darkvision 50', does not need to be listed), the creature should have low-light vision.

Skills: Monstrous Humanoids have skillpoints equal to 2xInt + 2 per EHD, or in the Avens case 22 skillpoints. I suggest you spend them on Spot (5 ranks), Search (5 ranks), and Listen (5 ranks), leaving you with 7 skillpoints to use on any two or three skills, remember that the Aven can have a maximum number of ranks equal to it's HD+3.
Additionally the Aven should get a +8 racial bonus to spot checks during the daylight hours. (Same as hawk).

Feats: I suggest going with flyby attack.

CR is roughly 1. ECL on the other hand is +3 (A first level Aven fighter roughly equals a 4th level character). Remember a 1st level Aven has 2d8+1d10 HD...

I hope I was of assistance.

No need to apologize, all I did was confer some constructive critizism. Nobody is perfect, not even me :p

It looks good. Just one small thing:

HD: 2d8+2 (11 hp)

The +2 is for the Con bonus, 2d8 is base, the average of 2d8+2 is 11.

But as I said, they look good. :D
