Multiclass into Wizard

hmm ... I'd let them start with a 'free' spell book, catch is that the spellbook is full ... the PC can't add any more spells at all.

Well, i wouldn't expect to gain the 2 spells for gaining a wizard level. I would expect to gain the standard book - all cantrips, and 4+int bonus in 1st level spells.

Looking over the rules, it looks like you don't get the "cantrips + (4+init) spells".

Still, depending on how your DM handles training.....I'd include it, as otherwise how could you have trained?

Wha....? The cantrips + (3+Int mod) 1st level spells are a class feature, and you gain all the class features when you multi-class.

For the 3.5 SRD:

Class Features: A multiclass character gets all the class features of all his or her classes but must also suffer the consequences of the special restrictions of all his or her classes. (Exception: A character who acquires the barbarian class does not become illiterate.)

Sure, he/she may have to pay 15 gp for a spellbook, but he/she definitely knows those spells.
