If you're not planning to multiclass for other reasons, dabbling in Cleric or Warlord seems like a great deal for a feat or two. Having 13 Str or Wis isn't too hard, and you get a minor-action healing surge per day, plus a free skill. If you also take the utility-swap feat at 8th and swap a 6th-level utility, you get another minor action (or immediate reaction for the warlord) healing surge per encounter.
That's not a big outlay for a decent fraction of the healing of a dedicated leader class. If the whole party did that, I don't think you'd need a leader at all (though it would still be helpful).
The cleric 6th-level heal seems somewhat better, plus multiclassing to cleric lets you use holy symbols, which means you could wear a cheap (at higher levels) Symbol of Hope, Symbol of Life, or Symbol of Victory for its daily ability.
