Multiclassing to ranger

I am wonderign if there is any rule on what to do if a character multiclasses to ranger, already has two weapon fighting, but doesn't want to focus their ranger specialty on ranged combat? Would it be reasonable to give the charcter a choice of another feat in the two weapon fighting genre, maybe two weapon defense of improved two weapon fighting?

By the rules, if your character already has the two-weapon fighting feats, but chooses the TWF path anyway, gets nothing.

You could house rule it, of course, but by the rules, if you get a feat twice somehow, the second instance is wasted unless it stacks or can be applied to a different choice (such as Weapin Focus).

You're well advised to talk with your DM, there are not many reasons not to allow something like TWD... as long as the player does not plan with it to get earlier into some ubermunchkinPrClass.

It's up to your DM to grant you this :)

At least I think it would make sense to:

- grant another feat which is very related to the combat style (2WD is just perfect)
- don't grant a feat which requires a BAB you don't already have (therefore I2WF at level 2 is wrong, unless you have the BAB from the other classes)
- grant the feat benefit only when wearing light/no armor, just like the other combat style feats
