D&D 5E Multiple Backgrounds

One of my players was lucky enough to receive a Dungeonscape Beta invite, and has reported something odd. He says that the system is asking him to choose two Backgrounds. I have always had my players choose one and only one Background for their characters.

I don't have my PHB at work. Can someone verify if a character should/can/must have more than one?

Normally, that would be my first inclination as well, but this is not the first time I have heard of the issue. I don't remember if it was a forum or facebook group, but I have heard of the 'pick two Backgrounds' thing before...

That may indeed be the issue. It's the only "two" I could find on the subject...
