Multiple Enhancments

The Iron Mark

First Post
Is it possible to have the same enhancment on a weapon and have them stack? Like a +1 Sure Striking Keen Keen Flaming Burst Flaming Burst Longsword. I didn't even come up with this, my DM did. So don't say I'm a powergamer from this, say I'm a powergamer from something else.:)

That's correct, you cannot have the same enchamnet twice on a weapon. Well, you could but it wouldn't do anything, they would not stack. However, your DM is free to Rul 0 this and allow then to stack if he wants.

Actually, I see no harm in stacking the flaming burst properties. It actually makes the weapon weaker than if it had flaming burst and shocking/icy/whatever burst.

The double keen is really troubling, though.

The general rule is that you cannot stack effects generated from the same spell source. This works for people trying to cast the keen edge spell on keen weapons, too.

So i get the flaming burst quality for my sword three times: based on flame blade, based on flame strike and based on fireball.

3 different spell sources.. :)

hey, plain and simple, any enchantment already on something does not stack when the same spell is in effect. a keen weapon does not gain another bonus if the spell is cast. However, if you have a particular effect say a +1 weapon, if you use greater magic weapon spell, than this bonus surpseeds the original bonus for the duration of the spell, but they donot stack
