Multiple grapples (Whip feather token) question

OK, this came up in my mind last night during the game, but I didn't bother my players with it and decided just to have the enemy do something else.

I had an 8th level cleric vampire. In addition to the usual bag of tricks this guy would have, he was equipped with a Whip Feather Token.

"A token that forms into a huge leather whip and wields itself against any opponent desired just like a dancing weapon. The weapon has a +10 base attack bonus, does 1d6+1 points of damage, has a +1 enhancement bonus on attack and damage rolls, and a makes a free grapple attack (with a +15 attack bonus) if it hits. The whip lasts no longer than 1 hour."

During the battle, he activated it, and directed it to attack the troublesome paladin. It hit her and succeeded in grappling her.

Now, the vampire could really have used some fresh blood at that point in the battle. Would it be legal for him to start a grapple with the paladin as well, and suck blood? It seems like it should be possible when thinking in terms of "realism." In fact, it seems like it should be very easy to do so, since the paladin is all nicely wrapped up in a magical whip.

But rules-wise, is it legal for two things to grapple a character at the same time?
