Cheers dude, I think I'll print this off and read it a I don't seem to be getting anywhere with this thread.
Sorry I have not been more helpful. I don't know if that thread will be of much help either.

Your Spell Storing arrows sound cool and if I was your DM I would allow them. Could you tell me what book the Aurorum material can be found in?

Yeah, it kind of degenerated into an argument over the word 'weild'. I'll sum up:

Camarath thinks that you weild a weapon up until the point where it hits the foe, and thus can choose to have the spell storing go off even though you're not touching it.

I think you weild a weapon until the point when it leaves your hand, and then can't affect it any more, so you can't choose to have the stored spell discharge when it hits.

Much argument ensues.

I believe one should be considered to be wielding any weapon that one is making an attack with untill the end of the attack. And that not doing so creates problems with the bonuses one add to the damge roll since many are dependant upon the weapons wielder. It is my opinion that the disagreement is mainly based on differing approaches to the rules.

Whether or not it's legal according to rules minutae (which are under heavy debate) is not as important as whether or not it's balanced.

From personal experience, I can tell you that allowing the Spell Storing property on arrows isn't just good, it's broken good.

In my game, I would have no problem with PC's using Spell Storing throwing weapons. I'd probably even allow them to make a Spell Storing bow.

But not arrows.

Why would they be any better than thrown weapons? Or were you letting a single casting of the spell be stored in all 50 arrows?

Because a character isn't likely to have more than a couple Spell Storing throwing weapons. Once they've emptied them they're probably going to have to wait until after combat to recharge them.

Over the course of several days it's not that hard to slowly charge up a quiver of Spell Storing arrows and then, when necessary, unleash up to a couple dozen of them in one combat.

In the game where this became a problem I was playing a 12th level Bard(archer) who crafted his own Spell Storing arrows. When we settled down to camp for the evening (or when we had a day or two of downtime) the party druid & sorcerer would charge up a couple arrows for me.

When we met the BBEG on round one I slammed him with four Spell Storing arrows of Extended Creeping Cold (did I mention the BBEG was of the [Fire] subtype?). Round two I dropped the hammer with four arrows of Vampiric Touch. He didn't make it to round three.

Game. Set. Match.
