Most of the humanoid races you mention are playable as PCs so they'd probably be better to cover in a "Races of" book instead. I agree with you that this should be done by WotC as soon as possible.

While the "Races of" book would no doubt sell better than the "Lords of Madness"-type book, the focus of the two would be quite different. The "Races of" book would probably include substitution levels for Orcish Barbarians, Hobgoblin Fighters and Kobold Sorcerers, a dozen prestige classes for each race, lots of new feats, and probably a new humanoid race.

My reaction to such a book would be the same as my reaction to the rest of the "Races of" books: Thanks, but no thanks.

By contrast, the "Lords of Madness" equivalent should cover the society of each race, with a particular emphasis on making an encounter with an orcish warband different from an encounter with a hobgoblin warband, and so on. However, the major thing I would like from such a book (and the thing that has proven most useful in both Draconomicon and Libris Mortis) is a set of pregenerated stats for members of these races. Ideally, I'd like to see an entire warband for each race, some typical chiefs and/or shamans for the races, and encounters ranging from EL 1 to 20. (I'm aware that that's a lot to ask. But it's stuff I would find extremely useful, as opposed to yet more prestige classes and feats that I'm honestly never going to use.)

Power of Faerun isn't about deities or psionics, according to Ed Greenwood.

Cheers!

Well I guess my original idea of it being about orgs of various size and power in Faerun is still possible.

I see nothing on that list I'm interested in. I'll be giving my money to 3rd party publishers once again. I'm not interested in Ebberron, I don't care for psionics, and I'm one of those old fogies who prefers traditional fantasy. I want elves and dwarves, not half-dragons and warforged constructs.

Anyways, thanks for the list.

I think that were that the case Magic of Faerun would be called Art of Faerun
Magic of Faerun isn't exactly a new book, so they probably didn't think about PoF when they named it.

Anyway, "Art of Faerun" would be a confusing title - many people would probably think it's an artbook or something.

I wonder if Complete Psionics will also include some Races of ... style information about some of the XPH races.... If not, I'm still holding out hope for that book, though I'm looking forward to Complete Psionics.

I'm also really looking forward to Races of the Dragon, since I love the various scalyfolk, and since it suggests that the Races of ... series isn't completed. There are still several race books I'm hoping for.

Not quite. He said it wasn't a book only about either of those, and that he'd never to his knowledge written a book called 'Power of Faerun', and not to ask him any other questions about it from that point on because of a NDA. His answer left open the possibility that the book did contain information about those two topics, just not being solely about one or the other.

Anyways, since another thread has revealed to be an epic/high power book, the speculation is moot.
