The most important thing about a homebrew is that you enjoy it. Don't get so hung up on getting "the lore" right that you cease to have fun at the table. Just make stuff up and change your notes later if necessary.

Love the setting!

I'm going to try to do a small local area like this: simple locations nearby that can be visited, rather than isolated nations that will never be used. Flavour, sure, but I've never had to leave the village and go to basically another setting.
