My avatar is broken

As you can see, my avatar is stuck on something kind of awful, which I assume is the default system avatar. I did not change or delete my original avatar, and after attempting to contact two admins regarding the issue (to no effect--one was on holiday, and the other simply did not respond), I decided to post something here.

I cannot upload a new avatar. Attempts to do so seem to succeed, but do not change the avatar. I can apparently turn off my avatar, but turning it off and then on again does not fix the problem.

I would really like to restore my original avatar. Can someone please figure out why mine is broken and fix it?

In an unrelated secondary issue, I don't stay logged in when I click the "remember me" box when logging in. I haven't looked to see if that's a known issue, nor contacted anyone about it yet.

Update: I can switch to the system avatars, but my profile seems to be interleaved with Dr Awkward's. I can't, for example, see my own profile page.

Hm. I can see (via mod control panel) what I presume is your correct avatar, but I couldn't successfully change it, either.

I suspect the problem might have to do with the fact that there's another Dr Awkward (note the lack of a period after 'Dr') in EN World. The picture that's showing up as your avatar is probably his; he has the same avatar and I'm also pretty sure I've seen him in RPG.net with it.

It seems to me that the best solution would be to rename your account - this would have the side benefit of removing any confusion with the Dr Awkward who registered in 2002 (as against you in 2004) but will also allow your proper avatar to be displayed.

If you let me know what username you would like to become, I'll set it up for you. Something like Palindromical perhaps ?

It arrived OK, so I've changed your name as requested.

Once you've finished any customisation you want I can change it again. If you still want to be Awkward (heh!) can I suggest "Doctor Awkward"? It would lessen any instances of mistaken identity

But then it wouldn't be a palindrome.

If I ever find out that they've fixed the issue causing my problem, I'll change it back, but for now this will do.
