This character has had a number of incarnations-on Mutants And Masterminds, Champions, Fuzion. His very first "life" was as a character of a fanfic of my creation, a dark-future view at the "Labors" series by Metroanime.
This is his version for a D20 Modern/Future campaign I was creating....
"My side is Justice. Good, bad, but Justice. I know I'm not better that those jerks I'm hunting, but I'm fighting on the other side. That counts for something.-Gives steady stare-If you know what's good for you, you'll get out of my way."
Roger Nathaniel Hackett, a.k.a. "The Lt.".
Born February 15th, 1985 in Chicago, Illinois, Hackett was a geek: comic book, cartoon, you name it, he was. At 113 IQ, however, he was good at improvising ways to keep his addiction going without hindering his normal life.
That changed, however, on January 20th, 2003, when he was "recruited" (read "abducted") into the Multiverse's underground main entertainment: a variation of the "Running Man" game, the objective: to survive a whole year thru the Multiverse. Hackett lasted two months, got a dead pool of $250, 000 (only 20, 000 Asgardian Credits) and a girlfriend, and then got "killed" on a Las Vegas hotel.
In truth, he was again abducted, almost dead, from the crime scene, and "recruited" for a secret project of the Offices. Them (the Goddess Relief, Rival Relief and Earth Relief Offices) needed a prototype of their new project to create a super-agent, fast, tough, and near-invulnerable to magic/psi/ki attacks. In Roger Hackett they found a viable subject.
The implant procedures were a success. The training was successful. The "on-the-job-training" missions were made flawlessly. But they were tricked by Hackett, who managed to run off and started his own mercenary business. The "business", however, only brings some money in, because Roger seems to deliver more vigilante justice than a sane man should give.
The fact that Roger Hackett is slightly cursed doesn't helps any, either.
Description: A man 5 feet 2 inches tall, Roger is lightly muscular, with black hair and brown eyes. His curse gives him the ability to (unwillingly) change his appearance into one of the local heroes'. So far he's looked like Yusuke Urameshi, Jeremie Belpois, Ryoga Hibiki, Ranma Saotome and (crazy as it sounds) Astro Boy. Roger is almost always dressed in red Converse sneakers, blue jeans, grey T-shirt, black leather jacket, black sunglasses and an Atlanta Hawks baseball cap. A thing that SERIOUSLY takes him apart from his (actual) look-alike is his almost-constant stare and Horatio Caine-ish monotone voice. His left arm is cybernetic.
Mindset: Roger Hackett is a true believer in the concept of "natural justice". Cyber-enhanced, bio-enhanced, robot, human, alien, or (at least once) deity, if you're guilty, you're GUILTY, and Hackett will see that you suffer. He's seen lots of hell, and as such, he doesn't takes pacifist people seriously.
He also has a very dark sense of humor, down-to-the-fact kind of thinking ("¿Why make a big deal-30-episode fights and such-out of a guy that you can take out with a grenade?"), and a slight rudeness ("¿Did it work? Good, then ¿why are you whining?"). However, he keeps his language and manners around children, and would rather die that let one come to harm.
Equipment: Roger's standard weapons are a pair of modyfied Beretta 92F pistols, followed by the "Death Eagle"-an IMI-produced mini-railgun. His standard longarms are both an AK-47 and a Colt M4 Carbine (w/M203 or an underbarrel Remington).
His vehicle of choice is a 2004-model Ford Mustang.
Powers: Roger Hackett has been modyfied with cybernetics and bioware, making him at least twice as strong and tough that a standard elite soldier, but the REAL marvels appear on his rewired nervous system (which provides him with enhanced reflexes), cybernetic arm (modular, can add and remove weapons as required), brain (equipped with a mini-computer), eyes (equipped with a targeting matrix, HUD and low-light vision) and re-engineered adrenal gland (capable of further boosting his strength and speed by short periods).
A side-effect of the procedures, however, is that now Roger is completely auraless. A taboo bordering on heresy on magic and martial arts circles, it means that Roger is completely incapable of interacting-by any means-with the mystical, but at the same time, anything mystical with offensive applications cannot hurt Roger.
