My friend's dog, Kato, loves the laser pointer. She chases that thing everywhere.

Once I had her going around in circles following the thing for so long that she almost fell down from dizziness afterwards.

Ditto- I feared I gave my kitten a seizure once. Collapsed and unable to move but his eyes still followed it. Wating ...waiting...

The AKC makes a series of dog toys that look (and possibly taste) like real animals (and Target sells them). Squirrels, ducks, rabbits. My dogs really like the squirrel toys, since they go crazy trying to catch real squirrels. Pretty durable, too, they go through socks and pretty much every other sort of toy in about an hour (or less).

I think we got her a couple of the fake squirrels. The small one had one sweaker - in its body, and the larger one also had a squeker in the big, bushy tail. She had a lot of fun eviscerating those two, and come to think of it, you're right - they were pretty durable. I think she must have played with the big one for a good four days before she decided to dismember it, though I think she may have taken all the stuffing out before that. I remember because my wife would always get really creeped out when the dog would turn the toy inside-out.
