My first experience of anti-female gamers!

All of civilization basically boils down to an endless, ever escalating arms race to impress the opposite sex. True back then as it is now. :)

The D&D group I had two groups ago was all guy, and we had a sort of "by-laws" that we abided by. Everyone had to agree on new members, and there was an obligatory watching of hardcore porn on the satellite dish for 30 minutes after we were done gaming.
:uhoh: Do you work for Anthony Valterra?

I'm regretful at the turn this thread has taken because I did not intend to hijack it. But I feel compelled to defend myself from some of the things people seemed determined to infer from my brief post earlier in this thread.

I NEVER said that gaming with women was less fun for me. Without exception my experiences gaming with women have been positive, which I think is actually a bit abnormal. In particular I enjoy gaming with my wife and I'm preparing to launch a solo campaign for this purpose (she doesn't get to game with me regularly because we have a young child).

What I said was that you can generally expect men to act differently around women, typically curbing some of their tendencies toward vulgarity. Once the group gets more "comfortable" around one another then they tend to lower those inhibitions a bit more though some individuals and some groups seem to lower them faster or more completely than others.

In any event, I don't really regard this as being all that controversial a concept and I also don't regard any "moderating influence" as a bad thing. I get plenty of time with my boys to let it all hang out, scratch, fart and tell dirty jokes outside our gaming sessions. If there were to be someone present who kept things a little more focused on the game I wouldn't mind it a bit. But I'm not looking to recruit someone (male or female) for that purpose either.

In my 5 or 6 years of gaming I have played with only a couple of groups. Of the groups I've played in there have been 4 girls spread out over the entire spectrum. 2 of the 4 girls have only been slightly less crass then the males playing in the game.

I used to DM up here at college but my group has since moved on to other things. but in its prime I had 5 active players only one of which was a girl, dear lord did the sexual jokes fly in her direction. Heh you should've heard the amount coming out of certain member's mouths when she played a bard that had a flute for an instrument.

heh it was a good time in its prime.
