My FLGS sold me the Red Box early.

Found it on the shelves at my FLGS this afternoon as I went to their 10th Anniversery celebration. I picked it up, but I really haven't gotten a chance to look through it yet, as I've been kind of busy today. Oddly enough, this makes it that the only edition of D&D I haven't bought in the last two days is 3.x.

Premium stores are selling them now up here in Canuckistan as well. I grabbed one yesterday.

The monsters in it are great. I'm definitely looking forward to the monster vault's take on existing monsters.

Does anyone know of a store selling the Red Box in the Greater Toronto Area?

What exactly is core level?
I don't know the exact break points.
There are three levels of Premier Stores: Gateway, Core, and Advanced. Each requires increasingly higher number of Organized Play events across multiple product types, as well well purchase levels direct from WotC. Most stores running Encounters should qualify pretty easily.

My local Premiere store in the Austin area doesn't have the Red Box yet (!), but had the Dark Sun stuff early. Maybe you have to be super-duper-premiere to sell the Red Box early? Or maybe they're snoozing?

I dunno, but I don't have my box yet.

I know something got fouled up as one of my distributors received the Red Box too late to ship it in time to make the full early release date, as they received it on the day it should have been in the store. I don't know if this was just one distributor or several. It did not happen to all distributors, and our order direct from WotC arrived on time.
