My Gaming Den

Here's something few people see: nearly all of my CD collection. It gets to hang out in the gaming den, providing occasional atmosphere.

If you're one of those who wonders how I keep coming up with oddball music suggestions...

My gaming den is upstairs in my house. Here are some of my tubs of as-yet unopened metal minis and my collection of Dragon magazine in the attic just off the play area.

Hard to see, but these are all Chessex boxes full of metal minis:

Not only are there more boxes of minis here, but underneath that 4'x4' coffee table are my boxes of non-M:tG card games- Doom Trooper, Battletech, Monte Python, Hyborean Gates, the original Middle Earth CCG and many more. I even have some of those Ultimate Combat martial arts CCG cards that were ticking off WoTC for using identical game mechanics.

I have a small house, which is just perfect for just my wife and myself. I have only two gripes with the place - 1) too much of the yard is in the front, on the busy, noisy street, and 2) I don't have a place for a dedicated space like you have here. *sigh*.

It IS nice..but it does have its drawbacks, #1 is that I'm the primary host for the group. So I really have to be sure of my schedule & punctuality to avoid disappointing others. That also means I'm almost guaranteed a major cleanup on game night.

But I'm NOT complaining. Is more of a cost of convenience than anything else.

I don't have a dedicated space, and I'm still the primary host, with those same concerns. :p

My wife, at least, is all for my putting a small bookcase in the dining room (our usual play space) to hold active gaming books.

CLEARLY you need to put up a shed on your vast front lawn and make it into your Gamer Cave! ;)

A buddy of mine in Austin converted his garage to that purpose. Worked out great!

Oh yeah, forgot to mention- that red suitcase?

Its full of Chessex boxes of minis that I take to the games when I'm not hosting...usually at the house of the guy who currently has my 5'x10' battlemat...
