My hard drive just crashed

Why is this on the WoTC PDF policy?

If my basement floods and ruins my collecton of hardcovers, is my failure to keep them someplace safe somehow WoTC's fault?

Backup backup backup... just like location location location

Because there is no physical copy of Sinister Secret of Saltmarsh and it's a tangible example of what I was paying for with extra downloads.

And, wow, did you fail your Diplomacy and Knowledge: Netiquette checks.

Seriously, did you call up people in New Orleans and taunt them for voting for that Mayor or failing to max out their flood insurance policies too?

Depending on the underlying cause of the crash you may be able to use a tool like SpinRite to recover the data. I've had good luck with all kinds of disk corruption with this program. It does have its limitations so a commercial recovery program might be a better solution.

If the problem is more towards the mechanical side of the drive function a program like SpinRite will not help.

Good luck, all may not be lost yet.
