My home town (Pine Bush, NY): A UFO Hotspot...

Growing up, my home town (Pine Bush, NY) was known locally and nationally as a UFO hotspot. I never saw anything, but apparently someone was seeing lots of stuff out there.

I did have a run in once with some people on a road that was known locally as a "landing strip": a guy flagged me down and asked me to call the police, saying that they had cornered an alien in the cornfield and might need help. I declined to call, and decided to wait and see what happened-if there was an alien that was going to be caught, I wanted to see it. Needless to say, it wasn't an alien they had cornered in the field, but a cow that had wandered off from the farm across the street, and it was more interested in eating than anything else. The 4 or 5 people who had been chasing it were quite angry once they flushed the "alien" out of the corn and onto the road. I laughed, got in my car, and drove off.

Well, apparently, the aliens have gone elsewhere, as there is too much developement in little Pine Bush for their liking:
