D&D 4E My initial impressions of 4e

I broke down and got the books yesterday, and I have to say, I'm really liking this rule set so far.

I've only just finished reading the power descriptions. Overall, I like the way they've been structured.

I like the way they handled zones, and misses, effects are very cool, with tons of development possibilities. In fact, damn... Almost every page I've read so far has been inspirational!

It definitely "feels" much different that 3.5 so far. As someone who plays World of Warcraft on occasion, I can see some similarities, but I don't think that's a bad thing.

I have a lot to digest (and even more to read!), but I'm really looking forward to checking out the class powers and examining the paragon paths and epic destinies in greater detail.

I really, really hope that WOTC can get through the legal stuff and release a revised GSL which makes it easier to develop material, because I have so many ideas right now for races, classes, powers, etc...

It'd be a shame to let it all go to waste.

I've been playing for more than a month now & the only problem that I'm

having is adjusting to the way skills now work.

The skills now are more versitile then before & I keep forgetting that.

But, Ill adjust.

I've also found the combats to be much more fun than in 3.xe.

Each different monster provides a different challenge & will oftan require

different tactics to combat.

When I played 3.xe, I just wanted the combats over so we could get on

with the exploring.

So I just finished magic items, wow...

Really great stuff!!

It seems like a piece of cake to create new ones too.

One thing that bugs me about powers, is the lack of "at will" powers at higher levels.

I think, even a few choices allowing you to swap out the 1st level ones could be handy.
