My new favorite campaign/adventure design tool...

GlassJaw

Hero
...is Google Image Search!!!

Wow, this just rocks. I've been working on a homebrew lately that is set in a region similar to Tibet and Mongolia. So a few searches of "tibet landscape", "tibet village", and "mongolia landscape" and BAM!, the mood and feel of the setting immediately spring to life. I'm also in the process of making a thumbnail page on my campaign site with travel guide-like captions. I've even renamed some of the pics to actual places within the campaign world.

Also, if you are having writer's or DM's block, just think of something to do a search on. Try "dark forest" or "ancient runes".

The fun never ends with Google Image Search!!!

Bombadier Beetle

I used Google Image Search last week to find a picture of a bombadier beetle
(no pic in the MM!) -- actually found one in mid acid/poison-spurt.

Have printed it out in full color and plan on bringing it out next session.

NICE!!

Actually, this would be a cool expansion to this thread: If you used GIS before, post some of your favorite searches or some awesome stuff that you've found!

I fully intend to use it, just not at my machine (since it's about a hundred miles south of me right now), and have in fact used it for some landscapes in the past. So, in conclusion - it's a great feature, even if you get about 200 useless images for every 1 you want, but I'm not using it ATM.

I've been using Google Image Search for a year or so now. Great for getting pictures of rainforests, jaguars, Mayan art, rapier duels, landsknecht, sailing ships, and all the other goodies I needed for my current campaign. :)

I love resources like this :D
