Are you using the Champions of Mystara boxed set? If so, how?

I will be using Champions, both for the flying ship rules (Alphatia has a small fleet of them), and the savage coast region, which the players might someday visit (haven't come even close yet though).

Also, the Princess Ark made a cameo in one of the adventures, when the pcs were in Minrothad.

In the latest session, three of the party were absent (one, the female cleric, was bowing out of the game in favour of playing my Blue Rose campaign).

The two who were present were the Cleric of Asterius and the Halfling. They decided boldly to go out into the wildnerness anyways, scouting out a hex that would eventually serve for the Stronghold the halfling planned to build.

Shortly they run into a ten-headed hydra, which unfortunately kills the cleric. Luckily the Halfling manages to cleverly play a game of hide and seek with the hydra, taking advantage of his ability to hide in natural environments, and kills it off slowly with his throwing axes.

He then takes the body of the cleric back to town and gets him resurrected, causing a two week delay and a 90000gp debt.

So, after that delay they head out again, find a dungeon, and spend a good old time just the two of them fighting a horde of random-dungeon-monsters (The Hill Giant inside the room he couldn't possibly enter or exit was particularly funny). At the bottom of the dungeon, they had a particularly hard time facing a quartet of Chimeras, and nearly got themselves killed until they figured out the trick of having the halfling at the doorway, throwing his axes, and then quickly using his Boots of Levitation to float up out of the path of the inevitable breath weapon attack that would follow.

So as of now, the players are still in the Five Shires. The male Cleric has jumped from level 5 to level 7; but they really didn't make any cash this time around, in fact they still owe about 20 large from that resurrection.

Ah, well...

update:

unfortunately this week our game had to be cancelled, so we played a few games of Battlecry instead: the South won 2 out of 3. :p

Anyways, I guess the characters are still hanging around the Five Shires.

I am increasingly convinced that the so-called "D&D Basic", and particularly in its manifestation as the RC, is still the greatest living embodiment of D&D

What version of basic specifically. There's a couple I thought.

The rules cyclopedia version, which is basically identical to the redbox/bluebox/greenbox/blackbox series.
