My players seem unable to kill my bad guy... (if you're in my game, don't read)

Yep

Yep. A year is long term enough, they deserve to be able to finish this guy off :). Just looking for ways they might be able to... cause it looks damn hard. The silver cord idea is excellent, also, might make some sort of achieles heel for him... we'll see.

Personally, I would have a bigger fish in the pond get angry at him and eliminate him. While the PCs play a crucial role of course. Sure he's strong, but demigods are stronger still :D

ROFL...

ROFL... that would be hilarous...

The only issue I have with that is that I feel the players have earned to defeat this hard opponents. They have been hounded and manipulated by him for 14 levels, and a real-life year. So I don't want to steal the kill from them by having some NPC take him out.

If the illithids really are that angry at this guy, the PC's might be able to tip them off that the Alhoon is astrally projecting. Assuming they don't get their brains sucked out, they might be able to form a short term alliance and mount a final assault on the Alhoons stronghold.

*nods*

I was thinking that as well. Tough battle though. There are some devistating AoE's spells out there, hehe could be messy. Especially, that as an undead, he's immune to mind magics... but with the PC's help, their allies, the iron golem the wizard built, and the illithids, it should be enough.
