My Style of Describing Attacks Missing

I find my system of describing Misses to have worked well lately, and would like to share it with you. I am talking about the description of Hits/Misses.

Here's how the system works.
First Find the characters total Ac, should be easy. Ex. Character is Wearing Leather Armor and has +4 dex bonus, so a total AC of 15.

Next Subtract the AC from 10. (Unless you have my Math Teacher this should be a breeze) EX. in this case it would be five.

Now Make a ratio between the Armor Bonus and Dex. Ex. 1:4

So out of 5 times you would describe the attack being deflected from the armor once, and the character dodging 4 times.

(Note:Figure Sheilds into Armor bonus, and do whatever you like with special ac increasements.)

I always described it by saying if the attacker rolls less than the characters base AC plus Dex, the defender dodged it, and if it's between that and the full AC it was deflected by armor. Makes more sense to me. :)

(Eg. In your example, a 13 or less would be dodged, a 14 would be deflected, and a 15 and higher does damage.)

If I bother with using a formula at all, I usually use the same basic system as Prozak, but most of the time, I just use the environment and say whatever comes to mind.

BTW, in you example, the AC should be 16, since leather is 2.
