I'll be arriving in New York on the 5th of August, and leaving on the 16th. So that's 10 days' holiday (2 of which will be spent at Gen Con - maybe more, I'll see how it goes).

I'm planning to spend a few days in New York before heading to Milwaukee, and then possible on to Chicago after Gen Con before heading back to New York for a couple of days before the flight home.

Now I just need to find places to stay - got a room at Gen Con (I'm travelling with a friend - of the original group of six, he's the only one who came up with the money by the deadline...). Any recommendations for NY and Chicago?

Well, Piratecat stayed with Wulf Ratbane for a couple days near Chicago (it's in the suburbs, not downtown). I'm sure he might be able to accomodate you as well if it doesn't interfere with his own plans around GenCon. Do drop him a line and see what he says.

If you happen to be driving down along Pennsylannia turnpike, do try to drop by Morgantown! :) Just follow I-79! :D

I do recommend trying out the Hard Rock cafe in NY and Chicago. Chinatown in Chicago has some great eating places.

Go to a baseball game if you got the cash, Wrigley Field in Chicago and I think New York has a baseball team or two. The museums of natural history and the aquirium in Chigaco is pretty cool. New Yourk has tons of stuff to do. Have fun at Gen Con.

heh... Sorry Morrus, couldn't resist. ;)

Yup gotta agree with the above post.

There's these big buildings called hotels. They are located in all US states.

You might want to try them out instead of trying to impose yourself on someone.

New here?

Sorry, MoRuss. No room in my studio apartment. I'll see you when you're here though! :)

chicago has TONS of stuff to do, depending on time, money, and interests.

personally i think the shedd aquarium is one of the coolest things in the city. if you want to go up in a tall building there is the sears tower. the museum of art in chicago is one of the best in the country! plus you could see plays, etc.

No thanks... :)

That sounds cool - I'll check them out.

That was the general gist of my post. Thanks for the informative reply, though.

Cool! I doubt I'll bother with the plays, though (we have plenty of them in London if I want to see a show) but we do lack tall buildings. :)
