My Victorian Horror campaign notes (For Fruthaka, kinda long)

Awesome work DnDChick! Great setup. :)

This get me going so I have to bother y'all with one of those story ideas of my own.

Wailing Woods
In a nearby rustic village the locals are getting worried. So far 3 people have been reported missing after going into the woods alone. Chilling howls can be heard at night and some people report having seen freakish silhouttes stalking the outskirts of the village. What is it that's really out there...?

The Real Story: A deranged scientist/doctor has taken up residence in the old manor just outside town. In his basement laboratory he is endeavouring in cunjunction of man and anima,l creating chimeras. These appalling creatures are comprised by parts from various animals and, of course, the three missing villagers. Still alive but driven insane by the doctors "treatment" these creatures stalk the night, crying out in agony and despair.

This is cool stuff. I'm currently playing in a D&D Victorian England game (Story Hour link in sig), and it's been an absolute blast. There's something very neat about taking an historical setting and tweaking it into something totally different - even though in our case, the actual rules have been changed very little.

Actually I can see this info also working in earlier time periods (latter half of the 17th century). I've already got ideas brewing for a Nothern Crown campaign.

I got your hint. :)

I appreciate the offer, but unfortunately for the moment the only thing I have for the setting is what I have written down in this post. It's still very sketchy even in my mind's eye.

Email me at CountryGrrlHere (at) aol (dot) com, and we can talk.

Ah. OK, then. I thought this was merely the tantalizing tip of a monumentally cool iceberg of Victorian niftyness.

I wish I could have obliged you. I mentioned my ideas in another thread, and Frutharka wanted to see more.

Right now I haven't even launched my campaign. I am just researching and making notes at this point.

Hey DnDChick, you might want to take a serious look at Rippers for ideas.

I'll take a look at that ... thanks!

Edit: I might also take a look at your Fear Effects PDF ... I've been tinkering with my own system based on the Shock Points system in OGL Horror, but its pretty klunky. It looks like it would be worth the "tree-fitty" (As Chef's dad would say ... ).
