Mystic Chapeaus!

Hood/Cowl. Nothing says 'mysterious' like a nice big hood to hide your face in shadow. If you can somehow have magically bright eyes peering out of it, even better (assuming that you don't end up looking like a jawa).

It allows you to cackle evilly, and croak, "Wipe them out...all of them!"

Collar Past Your Ears (CPYE)- Though not on the head, it certainly interacts with the head. Encircles it like a fence really. You know the look; that awesome cape topped by the stupid collar that says: "I'm so bad I don't need peripheral vision!". These guys tend to go for the glistening baldy look.

In either case, you really need a mustache to pull the look off. :)

Don't forget the Fedora, for the adventurous tomb-robbing types.

Dirt-Covered Fedora (DCF)- Perfect for the outdoors-y, athletic mage. Adventurous tomb-robbing types, necromancers need not apply.

And another:

Perfectly-Wrapped Turban (PWT)- Usually secured with a huge ruby brooch, exactly centered. The only acceptable color is blinding white, a white that no grime can mar.

Third Eye: more for the mystic types than the straight up "magic is science" variety wizards. Nevertheless it just screams "mysterious insight" to all and sundry.

Slender Wire Fillet Holding a Jewel (SWFHAJ): made popular by Tolkien Elves, this simple yet elegant design works best with blow wave hair and a noble brow. Plus it hints at third eye insight without actually needing to have it.

Edited for typing like a frickin monkey.

Harry Dresden ftw!

It needs to be pointed out that this should generally be coupled with a duster ;)

Totally cool. When I showed the CPYE to one of my players before posting, he spun his hands in opposing spirals and called upon the Eye of Agamotto.

Actually, to me a third eye screams: "Poke me first!", and I always figured the SWFHAJ was what gave Tolkien's Elves their noble brows and blow wave hair (the piercing gaze is another story...).

Don't forget the long-suffering, hangdog look.

And finally: Goggles Entangled In Frizzy Hair (GEIFH): Another example often paired with a long coat, this is a popular choice for those who blend magic and science and, as a result, often develop fume-inflamed eyes and unmanageable hair. Other common accessories include lightning, a twisted assistant, and a crazy "Bwa-ha-ha-haa!" laugh.

Peace.
