Your DM is starting up a campaign. You intend to play from 1st to 20th level, and knowing your players... you will!

You now have to choose what class you want to play.

Will you play a Cleric, Wizard, Mystic Theurge, or something else?

Remember, this is for a campaign that will take place over two years or so of weekly campaigning.

Cheers!

Never been a good player of spellcasting classes ... I forget what spells I have, when to memorize then ...

If I was playing a Wizard I would follow the Mystic Theurge since frankly I really dont use item creation feats and I rather be the spells slots of a wiz17/cleric13 at lv20 with the added bonus of prestigue domains that INHO are far better that being a lv20 wizard.

Yes, there would be a time to pay when first moving into dual classing but that is why we have the other party members ...

I voted for the Mystic Theurge...but then, Cedric, who my account is named after is a Cleric/Wizard of Boccob. So, as you can probably imagine, the Mystic Theurge would have been a great option for a Prestige Class.

But then, I wound up taking a homebrew Artificer prestige class instead. Which has worked out perfectly...

Couldn't say... After that long, we'd likely just be hitting 7th Level.:p

Seeing as straight arcane and divine spellcasters have been in 3E since the beginning, but Mystic Theurges are brand new, I could see a lot of voters wanting to try out the MT even if they normally prefer single class characters.

Kershek - Yes, it does.

Wow, what a lot of Mystic Theurges. :)

I took the class to my gaming group last night - most of them looked at the first 10 levels or so it would take to approach real power and said "not a chance!"

Mind you, spellcasting PCs are not big here for some reason.

Cheers!

Re

I think a few people will try it, but I don't think it will be any more popular than a straight wizard or cleric. It isn't that interesting a class. I have one PC that I know will take it, but that is because he was previously a cleric/mage in 2nd edition.
