FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Mythic Dreams Studios to Publish Dark Inheritance RPG

October 28, 2002 (BOTHELL, Wash.) – Mythic Dreams Studios, LLC, a dynamic and up and coming roleplaying game (RPG) publisher, today announced the development of Dark Inheritance the first mythic horror setting using the much anticipated d20 Modern™ core rules created by industry leader, Wizards of the Coast ®.

“We are excited to be working with such talented people as Rob Campbell, Aaron Rosenberg, Marcio Fiorito, and Marcko Djurdjevic to bring this amazing world to life, says Chad Justice, Mythic Dreams Studios founder. “Their professionalism and enthusiasm for the project coupled with the familiar action oriented d20™ system will insure Dark Inheritance is an exciting world to play in.”

The Dark Inheritance setting is a modern world of terrifying action where the primary characters are Titans, the genetic inheritors of the gods and monsters of legend. The book features original advanced classes, feats, spells for modern-day games, seven detailed Allegiances, as well as mechanics for Titan birthrights, legacies, and relic creation.

Dark Inheritance will be supported by a worldwide marketing campaign and top notch supplements. The first of these, Modern Spellcraft, is a rules heavy sourcebook useable with both Dark Inheritance and any other modern game setting.

Prepare to fear the future with Dark Inheritance!

I hope you take trades. I'm close to losing control and actually drooling over the spellbook. Please say you take trades.

Alan Kellogg, author of Panhandling d20. The RPG where the money only counts if you abjectly debased yourself to get it.

Hehe, I'm glad your interested. We're really excited to have Steve Kenson (Shadowrun's Magic in the Shadows and Green Ronin's Mutants & Masterminds) working on this project.

I've been curious about Dragon Earth, I'm sure we can make some sort of arrangement. :)

Sweet!

I like the way Dark Inheritance sounds! I've been looking for a good modern horror game but without the 'run in terror' feel of Cthulu. FINALLY, WE CAN KICK SOME ASS!!!

Heh.

Oh, question: So the Birthrights are like spells? or feats?

Thanks!

Thank you. I'm very glad you like what you've seen so far. We will be adding more sneak peeks each Monday to the website.

Titan Birthrights are really fun. Similar types of birthrights are grouped into trees, so higher powered birthrights require the Titan to know some lower powered birthrights (as well as other prerequisites). Some birthrights are feat like while others are more skill like. Each Legacy, we'll get more into that later, has access to three lines of birthrights. I can't get into the mechanics of how they actually work until after d20 Modern is released but it will definately be something we'll explore in November.

Thanks for the question!

Birthrights

I have my suspicions, but I'll refrain from blabbing until d20 Modern is out.:D

What do I expect from Dark Inheritance?

Lost cities.
Sinister Plots.
Fell beasts.
Dark deeds.
Villains
Heroes.

What little I've seen leads me to believe that DI will be a game of heroes. The kind of heroes who go into the dark places of Earth to do battle with the nightmares of humanity.

I like that.

(And here I'm supposed to be saving my money.)

Oh well, I can always be rich and famous in my next life.

I very interested in the D20 Modern. Dark Inheritance looks like a good start to get some cool stuff for a modern game. Cant wait to see more on monday. :)

A great list and there will definately be plenty of them as well as

Failed Destinies
Uncovered Relics
Rediscovered Magics
Dire Cults

Absolutely, although at least some of the heroes have alterior motives. Enlightened self interest is not counter to the themes of the setting and Chow Yun Fat in Hard Boiled or Replacement Killers would feel right at home here.

Great to hear that! We really believe Dark Inheritance is a great setting for modern action and adventure. Here at Mythic Dreams, we're waiting impatiently for the release of d20 Modern. Once the book is in the stores we can start posting some rule bits.
