Naming Fourth Edition

I don't mind Feywild, Shadowfell, or Eladrin. Dragonborn, on the other hand, rubs me the wrong way. I think that I would have used lizardfolk, and altered their flavor text to indicate that many of the lizardfolk believed that they were descended from dragons, and they often worship Bahamut. It seems like fiddling with lizardmen provides more continuity with previous editions of D&D than the introduction of a new dragon race.

Sign me up for lizardfolk too. Do we REALLY need a draconic PC race? I'm all for a reptilian one, but, let's keep dragons as things we should go out and kill please?

I've always like Reptiliads.

I don't really like the "compound-noun" names, especially for significant aspects of the game. I can accept them for subtypes of monsters, if only because it may be hard to come up with lots of variant names otherwise.

How would you name:
A wild, faerie plane?
The descendents of dragons?
The plane where dead souls go?
The fey inhabitants of the Feywild?
- Faerie. Or the Otherworld.
- Preferably some other name that sounds flavorful but isn't just a compound noun with a variant of "dragon" in it. After all, the fae elves are called Eladrin, not Faerieborn. The infernally tainted humans are called Tieflings, not Devilborn.
- The Shadow. The Shadow World.
- I like Eladrin. But Sidhe works too.

If you think "melee" gets mispronounced a lot (and it does), just wait till they put "sidhe" in the game. It would have to be written "sidhe (pronounced 'shee')" each time it's mentioned.

I can see it now...Jhudsui the Sidhe.

Driu.

The descendants of dragons are dragons. Do you mean some sort of anthropomorphic lizard race that shares some genetic heritage with dragons? Then I would call them The Tribe.

Beyond the Shroud.

Eldrig.
