Naming the world

So far, the core setting does not have a name. PoL was an early design concept, not a name for the setting. Already, it is starting to be filled out by articles and books. The Tiefling empire of Bael Turath, the dragonborn empire of Arkhosia...the Yeenoghu article was a great example, chronicaling the fall of the empire of Nerath.

I suggest we name it Nerath, since that was the most recent empire and the place where most of the action takes place so far. Anyone for it?

Alternately, we could just capitalize The World.

Any other ideas?

Well there were a couple examples in the DMG, since it talks about how while it doesn't have any true name, there are a variety of names people have called it:

The Creation, The Middle World, The Natural World, The Created World, and the First Work.

I personally am partial to the "First Work".

Keeping it unnamed gives it more power as a shared experience. Nerath ... Norrath ... let's not start a thread about that similarity. Let's just enjoy the new rules, which are NICE (/borat).

Could it be the same as Aebir, the world where the dragonborn came from in the new Forgotten Realms?

If not, maybe some variant of the word "Star," to refer to the "Points of Light" concept. Not Mystara, though.

The name's certainly lifted from Kirby, but my true inspiration is far lamer - Fourth Edition, Fourth World. (The First World is Greyhawk, the Second World is the Realms, and the Third World is Eberron.)
