I watched this thing, it's rather disappointing. You can tell it was commissioned as a serious 20,000 Leagues prequal, with commentary on British colonialism in India, but degenerated into a pulpy second rate steampunk fantasy adventure.

And the Nautilus is far, far too small.

Looks like it was intended as a full series on Disney+, but after production of 10 episodes it fell to a budget axe. AMC picked it up as a "special event".

It was aired last year in France, Sweden and the UK. Audiences fell by half over the diffusion period: Nautilus (série télévisée) — Wikipédia
(though arguably being in top place for the first few episodes). IMHO, it reflects how the series went.

It was an enjoyable show, but it either could have been more developped, or shortened by cutting things that were happening too fast.

Making him appear East Indian is a plus, in my books. Having him steal The Nautilus, instead of being the genius who designed it, is a negative.

From the commercials that's what I see as well. He designed it in the books (they were a trilogy if I recall, 20K under the Sea is merely the first one). He was a genius and part of the fascinating part of the books were seeing that genius at work.

Yeah, I didnt like that part either, it did diminish Nemos role as genius science hero

In the show Nemo is credited with designing the engines, but its built by 'the Company' (via prison labour) using iirc a french design.
