Sky Galleons or Orcz have got my vote. I'm sorta leaning toward Orcz, actually. Not that I don't like blasting Martians outta the sky with a big ol' cannon, mind you!

Well, Jon, thanks for bumping me off the fence. Orcz Reducz it is! I'll post the game tomorrow morning and start getting together my thoughts on the further zany adventures of those lovable reprobates, The Thonka Family and Company.

As promised I've just posted my Orcz Reducz game for the afternoon slot. I've got room for 6 players and the available PC's are as follows:

Honka Thonka - Cleric of Grumsh and joyful weilder of the Club of Healing (It's the Hurtin' that keeps on Healin'!). Honka is a hero of the tribe since he helped rescue the chieftain and is doing what any such hero would do: Mackin' on the honies!

Gronka Thonka - Barbarian with a smattering of Cleric (he went to Vacation Grumsh Worship one summer as a whelp). Better that he now pursue his career in rampant stabbing because it's hard to gain followers when you wear The Stinking Hide of Grumsh.

Gouge - Half Goblin/Half Orc - All Vicious. This Rogue would Sneak Attack his own mother but he'd rather Sneak Attack YOUR mother. Many say that Gouge is "all work and no play" but this isn't true. He takes time off from tumbling and Sneak Attacking and occasionally enjoys a relaxing game he calls "Coup de Gracing you in your sleep."

Mugnutz the Blue - No longer actually Blue (the Wand of Wonder strikes again!) but still the smartest (and only) orc Wizard in 5 counties. Mugnutz has recently decided that he should try and find a mate: SGMO, non-smoker (unless he's actually on fire, which doesn't happen more than once a week), hobbies include Alchemy, Crafting Magical Weapons, killing people, reanimating their corpses. No freaks.

Thag the Apprentice - More skilled at magic than ever before, Thag still thinks he knows actual spells instead of the elven curse words that Mugnutz has taught him. Regardless he still "feels the magic" when he caves your skull in with his "wizard's staff". He puts the "brute force and ignorance" in "brute force and ignorance"!

Freg the Hound Master - Freg manages the kennel full of the loveable mutts that chewed his leg off last year. But with his new magical peg-leg, he's back and ready for action! Unlike most orcs, Freg is vaguely likeable. And if his charm doesn't work, he'll happily beat you to death with his whip. Cheers!

If you have a preference for which character you want to play, post it in this thread after you've signed up for the game over at the game day site. Thanks!

I'm all signed up for Orcz Reducz and ready for another Black-Sackin' good time!

Gronka Thonka will be mine. :D

I hope that NCSU Codemonkey chooses to reprise his role as Honka Thonka. I have fond memories (probably not shared by Gronka) of the good ol' Club of Healing.

Game Announcement - Stargate RPG – Offworld Mission One

I am planning a game for beginning characters using the Stargate rules published by AEG. They are d20 based and similar in many ways to those of Spycraft.

Characters
All characters will be working for the SGC either as military personnel, civilian specialists, offworld guides, and etcetera as part of a cohesive team. The team will have already been through some training together and all know basic SG1 policies, procedures and tactics.

Character generation will be done at the game table, or through online discussion and email. I will allow much greater leeway and leverage to characters and concepts generated in advance, as that also allows me to prepare better for those characters and the ramifications of their backgrounds, abilities and ect. Also I will keep characters generated at the table simple because I would like to spend the time running, but I still can’t expect people to go out and buy the core book. It is very good, but expensive (well worth the price still).

The Mission
The first mission will be an extended exploration-scouting mission to a newly discovered world. The gate opens into a clearing of a coniferous forest, with trees as big as giant sequoias present in the surrounding area. The climate is similar to that of the Northern US and appears to currently be in late fall. The first team has found evidence of human activity but has yet to make contact with any of the indigenous people. The mission calls for the new team to come through the gate, establish a base camp, and begin exploration of the planet’s surface. Data from the last UAV shows that from the patterns of smoke coming up through the canopy the locals are probably nomadic, but could find little else as the forest extended throughout its entire range broken only by the occasional clearing, hill, and river. A mountain range rises to the north and the coast of a sea or ocean lies to the south and west. The team is expected to check in every other day.

Dice Rolling for Stats

The method I will use to roll the base stats is 4d6 drop the lowest roll, rerolling ones, and repeat seven times to take the six you want. I have not yet decided on how I will do this for online generated characters.

Books

As far as sources I currently own the core Stargate RPG book and the Unexplored Worlds book and will allow most of the character generation rules contained in them. Rules from other books will have to be cleared by me and I will need to see a copy for use of those rules in game for reference. http://www.stargatesg1rpg.com/ is the official website for the Stargate RPG.
