Near future Sci-fi & psionics?

Spycraft 2.0 with free web conversion posted above would my choice but I must warn you that Spycraft 2.0 is NOT for the faint of heart. It's definitely on the crunchy side.

If you are looking for a feats and skills version of psionics then you should consider Green Ronin's Psychics Handbook or better yet, what it's evolve into: True 20 (also for Green Ronin). It's a generic system but it does come with a sample sci-fi setting in the back of the book. I'd give this a shot before M&M which is designed with supers in mind.

D20 Modern + D20 Future + D20 Future Tech might also serve although it's perhaps more books than you care to buy or use. Someone else on these boards has putup a website with most of the rules free for you to use. Here it is: http://www.dominion-x.net/d20-msrd/index.html

You mention Trinity. Are you thinking of the Storyteller version or the D20 version? I don't know anything about the D20 version but the original Storyteller version rocks on toast. It has all the tech and psionics you could ever want. Great game.

Lastly, and this is a bit off-the-wall, you might consider using the Revised Star Wars rulebook. Drop all mention of other races and planets, and change every occurance of the word "Force" to "Psionics" and you're set.

The nexus psionics is not based on class but only based on PC levels, as you have to use feats you gain access to disciplines and you have skills based on the PC level.

There is a specialised class for psionics which allows for improved psionic access, but the final make up of the type of psionic is purely GM or player designed.

There are meta-feats still and also discilpine feats which grant improved abilities without having to use up psionic ability.

It is still in draft but is about 90% done now.

I'd go with d20 Modern for near future, maybe using some of the Progress Level 5 material from d20 Future (or the d20 Future SRD online), which is meant to be very near future. Also check out War in the Information Age (excuse the pimp) which is a guidebook to warfare and combat in the near future, with extrapolated technologies and so forth.

For the psionics aspect - if you don't want it to play a major part, the d20 Modern FX rules are fairly good. If it's going to be a bit more in the forefront ... hmm, Green Ronin's Psionic Handbook perhaps? Any other good d20 Modern/Future psionics rules that I've overlooked :uhoh:

Storyteller version. I hear the d20 version was crap.
I've already got most of the books I need and the PDFs are going for cheap. I can get everthing I need and get it printed and bound at Printfu for around $50.

I use the DW2 Psionics (found in the Mutations pdf), and you can get them one of two ways:

Take the Mutant Template (rare)
OR
Take the original Telekinesis, Telepathy, and/or Precog as feats, and then advance them with the Neural Feats.

It works for us.

And of course, the DW2 psionics rules were drawn *from*?

Prometheus Rising.

Of course I don't care where folks get them, but they are kind of nice if I say so myself.

Heh. Sorry Vig. Didn't know that - otherwise, I would've cited the original source.

...and they ARE kind of nice. Quite nice.
