Necro Games: Maze #4 - ever?

Does anyone know if Maze of Zayene #4 (from Necromancer Games) will ever be produced, or will I just have to make do with #1 - 3?

Rob Kuntz is looking to publish this somewhere but it won't be released through Necromancer Games. It might end up a PDF release- but I really hope not.

This is one of the reasons I disliked Maze. It really relies on having the whole thing to run 'properly'. I'm very worried that his Dark Quest series is going to follow the same path and for the most part, Dark Druids does indeed put it right in the follow the module by the nose type of deal where at the end the characters have very little choice but to wait for the next module.

One of the reasons I prefer the 'super' modules is that they take a lot of material and present it whole and then pretty much leave it alone.

You should try the official Maze of Zayene forums at the Necromancer boards. Here is a link dealing with this specific question in case you don't know where that is.

Clark basically says that no, Rob Kuntz will not be doing the planned 4th volume of the MoZ series with Necromancer. However, it may be possible that he could publish it under his own banner (Pied Piper Publishing, I believe).

Thanks, everyone. I looked at Necromancer's website for some kind of announcement, but there was none. I didn't think of the messageboards (but should have... Internet = messageboards everywhere! At what point is it too much?!). :)

No offense to Clark, or to Rob, but I think this blows. I purchased the first 3 with the intention to read them once the entire series was complete. Now the series won't be completed, and I will have to determine whether or not it will be worth my time to see what I can do with them. If anything, this should serve as an example for why mega adventures are better for the consumer - like Gary Gygax's Necropolis, which turned out great!

This is sad news indeed. I remember in April, 2001 that I won the original 4 modules on eBay from Nobleknight Games and then 2 weeks later see that NG was going to publish them for 3e. I was looking forward to comparing the two sets of modules.

I would recommend looking on eBay or Nobleknight Games' website. He might have a few left.

I do hope that M4 will be publish by Pied Piper Publishing as well as the proposed M5 and Rob's City of Brass modules as well.

You could run Maze #1-2 independently and write your own sequels for them. Sadly, at the moment, this seems to be the best thing to do. :(

I feel exactly the same as Baraendur. Necromancer Games is my favorite d20 publisher, so this is kind of a kick in the head. I also have 1-3 and was planning to read them after I got #4, but that's gone, with no announcement or anything. (Ah well. Who wants negative PR?) In any case, I peeked at the Maze messageboards over at Necromancer Games, and it seems like Maze 1-3 is playable without #4.

Throw in my voice for mega-adventures being far better than "series"! (I'll nab pretty much every mega-adventure published, but approach series with trepidation. Any publishers listening?) :)

I agree that in today's environment it is much harder to do a multiple volume series of modules that are designed out of house by another author. I just want to let everyone know that it certainly was our intention to do all four when we started with Rob. Unfortunately things with Rob didnt work out. We have great respect for his creativity and hope he is able to bring Maze 4 to the fans as soon as he can.

Clark
