Necromancer Games' Eldritch Sorcery

I haven't seen or heard anything about the spells actually in the book, so I don't know. There probably are some, but it didn't sound/read to me like the main intention of the book was to re-do old spell version for 3.X that had yet to be re-done from 1E/2E.

The submission request was to do new spells that had yet to be done in 3.X. I am sure some of those who submitted looked through their old edition material for ideas, but I believe that is the closest this book got to what you are looking for, BOZ.

But I could definitely be wrong, since they have been intentionally obscure about actual/specific content. Revealing that converted old 2E spells are part of the content would defintely be a big give away, at least until the book is physically on the shelves.

So I guess we'll just have to wait and see to know for sure.

That confirms that some of the spells are conversions of older editions, which also confirms that being conversions of older edition spells is NOT the main focus of the book. Which makes sense, since it will appeal to the consumer who wants old stuff converted and the consumer who wants new ideas and the consumer who is happy with anything that is done well with spells and magic.

Definitely fits the Necromancer marketing strategy.

Blech. Splatbooky.
[mode=Spaniard]I do not think that word means what you think it means.[/mode]
The word "splatbook" does not have anything to do with quality. A splatbook is a specific type of supplement geared toward one specific character type in a RPG. The 2nd ed Complete ________ handbook are good examples, as are the clan/tribe/tradition/kithbooks from various World of Darkness games. The 3.5e Complete _________ books are borderline splatbooks, since they focus on a type of activity rather than a specific character type (e.g. Complete Warrior has a prestige class for wizards who want to fight with telekinesis, despite wizards not being a "warrior"-type). The word probably has its origins in people being tired of writing "class/clan/tribe/whatever-book" and using an asterisk as a "wild card", creating "*book", which then turned into "splatbook."

A book with new spells and magic and stuff is not a splatbook.

ok, well i am relieved then. :) a *long enough* time ago, scott mentioned to me that there was likely to be an upcoming Necro book that had conversions of old spells in it. guess this was it then. :)

Agreed. No idea why you thought I meant otherwise.

Oh? There's a specific definition of "splatbook" out there, now? Cool.
