Well, you'd only be playing Fredrick if he was also your current character, as I'll be doing straight conversions. You might've been able to meet the guy though. 
I may have to make some changes to get things to work out right though. I'm contemplating letting the Elf Cleric be an OD&D elf but with Cleric spells, or forcing the complete change on the guy. I also might make the Elf into a human so that he can stay a cleric.
The party wouldn't be completely without healing ability if he goes to pure Elf because there is a Paladin in the group.
The Samurai would just get switched to straight fighter.
The NPC Rogue will become a thief (if she is still with them). If the party has gone to the Pool of Love, then they'll have cohorts and there'll be no need for an NPC to tag along to even out the CRs anymore
