Need a hand with character concept

In a few days, I'm going to start playing in a new campaign under one of my friends. It's going to start off in the Forgotten Realms, but it will soon shift over to Ravenloft. He has us starting out as 0-level common folk, and we will build our characters from there. I have what I want to play, but I'm having a tough time with name and background and I was wondering if I could get a hand. I'm going to be an elven rogue that is going to build towards levels of Swashbuckler (from Librum Equitus). I know that I want him to have been born and raised in the city we're starting out in... he's 118, so I figured he could have developed a bit more of a devil-may-care attitude when he realized he was going to outlive almost all of his friends, given that they're mainly human... I don't know what I want his profession in the town to be though, and his background needs more fleshing out than that little bit I've come up with. Plus, as I said, I need a name. Anything any of you could offer me would be GREATLY appreciated.

Devil-may-care, Elf, soon to be swashbuckler? Sounds like a born Professional Gambler to me! Give him the skill Profession (Gambling) and get off to the horse tracks, the card games and the dice tables...and make sure to tip the dealers and the pretty bar wenches who bring you drinks! If the town is too small or big enough have him run a "house of ill (or in his eyes good) repute" providing the best of services to his fellow townsmen!
