Need a little help

Dark Wolf 97

First Post
Ok, I am going to run a Monster Squad d20 Modern/Future game set in the year 2037 and early PL 6. The Monster Squad element is that all the players are either monsters or supernatural hero types (think Buffy), unfortunatly I have run into a small problem: One of my players wants to run a vampire, and one a mummy.

For the vampire I need 1700 AD starting occupations and advanced classes, and for the mummy I need 1500 BC starting occupations and advanced classes. I could probably adapt some of the current occupations but am looking for some outside input. I am clueless on the advanced classes.

Also has anyone incorporated high magic classes into d20 Modern or maybe an Incantation based Advanced class.

Thanks everyone :D

I'm running a Modern +FX campaign currently, so I've done a bit of research in this area. I haven't found anything about mummies yet, but I haven't really had cause to look either. For Vampires, Fang & Fury is a Green Ronin supplement for work-able Vampire characters. It's a race/class combo, which might be workable. They'd be a bit over the top compared to standard modern characters, but throw a bit of ECL in, and it might be workable. (IIRC, the book does have an ECL modifier.)

For an incantation character, I'd go with the Ritualist from Modern Magic from the Game Mechanics. There's an set of lesser incantation rules in that book which complement the standard incantation rules in the SRD nicely. I've got a 4 Smart Hero/2 Ritualist in my game, and it seems balanced. I'm not fond of the Mage advanced class from d20 modern, and have not allowed them in my campaign.

As far as starting classes go, even from past eras, I'd just go ahead and use the standard 6 starting classes. Unless you're running a fairly high level campaign, it's unlikely that your characters are going to outpace those enough that they'll be at the advanced class level. Further, Grim Tales has shown that the 6 basic d20 Modern classes work nicely for non-modern eras.

HTH!

Thanks Dunner, I already have the stats for vampires, mummies, werewolves, etc.. (custom stats), and I plan to keep the 6 base classes the same.

Thanks for the bit on incantations and I (now) plan to get Grim Tales.

Anymore ideas?
Later.

I'd suggest checking out a copy of Dungeon #101. It has the Iron Lords of Jupiter mini-game in the Polyhedron sectionn which contained a number of Occupations and Advanced Classes that would easily work for the player who wants the mummy character.
