need a new PC

Cake Mage

Explorer
Alright I'm neen a new PC for a new campaign that is starting up, and I'm stumped as to what I should do. So far I know there will be a Cleric, a psion warrior, a fighter, and maybe mage. So for I have decided I don't want to be any of those or a drd, brd, pldn, or mnk.

what I'm looking for is a completye pc here people. from stats to background (though I can probably come up with this). I am totaly sapped on creative juices here. I need something to get me going. we're using 32 point buy system and only things from the 3 core rules books, but I can run other things by the dm and see if I can use it.

Note to moderators, I don't know if this goes here or not so feel free to move if neccesary

I keep trying to get someone to try this, but no one has yet taken me up on it. In the DMG it states that the one NPC class that should hold up as a PC class is the Expert. Up to the challenge? :)

You're the first person to call me young since I turned forty...

Thanks.

Anyhoo, Something on the order of a demolitions expert might be cool. Like an Alchemist style guy who makes bombs and ways to blow stuff up, perhaps. Or even a master craftman of weapons and armor might be something to consider. Maybe a master animal trainer that goes along "for the hunt' and tries to get a menagerie built up of animals he can train as unusual mounts or creatures to use as attack or guard animals. Lots of ways to go and with the many skills an expert has, you could combine a number of these ideas. If you didn't mind playing a character that is subserviant to another character, you could even attach yourself to one of the others much in the way that Henry in the Paul Kidd Greyhawk novels is the stalwart right-hand of the Justicar...a Sancho Panza sort, though it doesn't have to be comical. It certainly would be a challenge with TONS of roleplaying opportunities. :)

Background: Back in you youth, if your weren't out in the woods hunting, you were lurking in the dark alleys of your hometown, flipping out at random people. When you were 18, you were hired by a merchant as a scout for his caravan, and you never looked back. A job gets you money, a sword lets you keep it. You don't go out of your way to hurt people, but sometimes, they just get in your way, after all, you have a job and it has to get done. You have recently come to the conclusion that evil is both rich and unliked. If you can kill it and take its stuff, you will do so.

Goal: Get rich.
Long Term-Goal: Found a mercenary scout company.

Well, there's a rogue, of course. Can't go wrong with those. I once played a female halfling rogue called Leyna Thorngage. She used a war fan in close combat and daggers for ranged combat. She maxed out her Tumble and Bluff skills for maximum mobility and sneak attack (feints). She took mostly mobility related feats (dodge, mobility, spring attack, expertise). She never wore armor at all, and tended to dress like a gypsy (heavily embroidered skirt, vest, and shirt). She was also short and light, even for a halfling (2'5" and 25lbs).

She was a curious as the iconic kitten, sweet and kind, but utterly intolerant of evil and nastiness. She also disliked war (particularly religious war) with a passion.

She considered herself a dancer (many ranks in Perform (dance)), which was how she viewed her battle strategy. She had been a guard for a merchant's caravan, so she knew how to drive a shrewd bargin and knew a thing or two about locks and traps. Since the merchant had been a cloth merchant (it was where she got her clothes) she tended to be a keen judge of fine cloth, and a ready hand with a needle.

Leyna was a ready worshiper of Fharlaghn, the god of travelers, and often added stones to his roadside shrines.

And short jokes were always answered with a swift kick to the knees of the offender. :D

I have her stats around her somewhere if that character concept interests you. :)

You could always go with a delusional paladin i have one now and he is encredibly fun to play. Ah i could go on for days about good old George but i wouldn't want to bore anyone or excite them to the point of outrage, never really tested my true skill with words. Either way it could be a challenge for another person i am curious how it would turn out. (Just dont try to make him an asassin i would have to severly punish small people and no one wants that:0) or you could just go something like a large pole that is very tall and just stands there being stupid and draw all the fire...hey wait thats the paladins job.

Play a master leaper.
He's a rogue, of course, who specializes in mobility. But your highest stats into Strength and Dexterity. Take the Dodge chain of feats. Save up gp to buy a Ring of Jumping. Invest max ranks into Jump, Climb and Tumble. Make him as tall as you can get away with. Eventually, take the ninja spy class if you have OA.

The character's background? He was raised in a monastery, but he was too disorderly for training as a monk. The only thing he really learned there was the value of acrobatics.

The character's tactics? Hide somewhere off the ground. Leap onto foe, dealing sneak attack damage. Jump away as fast as possible onto another flanked opponent. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Demiurge out.
