Need Advice for Psionic Character

SAVANT

These guys are killer, especially with Mindscapes. It's not unheard of to have a Savant with more hit points than the party fighter.

Be sure to take Overwhelm Buffer. This is a great feat that gives you some major bonuses against individual foes.

Also, one power that is often overlooked is Control Air. Trust me though, at 16th level, the ability to command 90+mph winds at the cost of 3 PPs is more than enough to keep even the most sadistic psion amused for days.

I would definitely take the feat Inertial Barrier, one of the best psionic feats IMO

No. Psions don't suffer from wearing armor.

Make sure your Savant picks up a mithral chain shirt somewhere along the way. They are cheap, and want hinder you at all.

I say go shaper. Shapers are my faovrite though its been months since I've even cracked the psion book, so I'll be light on advice.

Cool shaper things.

Astral contructs are fairly bad assed at that level especially with some minds eye stuff. Trigger power and ecto puppet go together like peanut butter and chocolate. If you remove the visible manifistation, you an pound away with thes while invisible for great effect.

Fabricate/improved fabricate; with the craft skills a shaper has you kick some butt with thes powers.

Non shaper must have power control winds. Crap your 16th level that's 90mph winds swings over an absurd area. Yeah yeah you're in the underdark so it will suck, but maybe the dm wil let you swing it down there as well. I woudln't but many dms are nicer than me.

Schism and perstitant power, mmnnn broken goodness. all day haste like effect.

Brain freezing, so that's all for today.

I'll second this, if you were starting form level 1 then inertial barrier is a possible feat choice. I'd never cripple my future self that much but some would. But at 16th level there's no use for it, jsut take a mitral chain shirt+x, medium fortification.

Doesn't matter if you are in the underdark, in fact, it will work to your advantage. Anywhere that has air will allow you to use this power. Blasting 90mph winds down an underground tunnel will definately keep the enemy at bay.

I once created a 50th level epic savant who could, if I remember correctly, summon a 2 mile wide blast of wind that was equivalent to an F6 tornado. For 2 power points....

Such windspeeds have never been recorded on earth. It has about the same effect as a nuclear weapon. :cool:

Of course, this should be ruled out by the DM, but by the books, it can be done.

I was more concerned about the area of effect. It a frickin huge diameter, I just don't see how you can swing that underground. I'm not a huge underdark person so maybe they have places you can pull it off, but at 16th level it be damn strong winds that blast you as well. Of course if there is some errata on this that could change it. And heck if your dm lets you convert metamagic feats to metapsionics the metamagic feat that lets you alter the area fo spells would rock for this.

Right, it looks like this will in fact be a 17th level character: I am looking at taking a level of fighter for the armor feats and what not. Though the biggest decision will probably be how to spend all of the magical item money, Yikes!

I went with a Shaper, my secondary areas are Telepathy and Psychoportation.

Here are the powers I've selected:

1=psycholuminesence, firefall, sense link, lesser mind link, object reading
2=Ecto Puppet, Sudden minor Creation, detect thoughts, Control air, animal affinity
3=Astral Construct III, Schism, Remote Viewing, False Sensory Input
4=Wall of ectoplasm, Amplified Invisibility, Telekinesis, Domination
5=Ectoplasmic Shambler, Incarnate, Teleport, Metamorphisis
6=Improved Fabricate, Retrieve, Banishment
7=Mass Cocoon, Mass Domination
8=Astral Construct VIII

Inertial Armor protects you from incorporeal creatures and touch attacks, and if you spend more feats on it, the AC bonus improves. It's part of almost all of the high AC powerplay strategies I've seen, especially with a Monk level.

Yep +4 ac first time and then +2 ac every time you take that feat, Powerpoint reserve is 1 x inertial armor feats

(from Mindscape a psion guide : play it it's far better than psi handbook, new feats, power and Mindscape psi combat !)
