Howdy all!
Forum newbie here... I apologize for hitting off my first post with a question, but I can't seem to shake down answers from other game-related sources.
I'm looking to find ballpark pricing information for various gaming lines and products... D&D, White Wolf, MTG starters/boosters, Reaper, Confrontation, etc.
I'm putting together a cost-analysis for a prospective game that's somewhat cross-market, and I'm trying to figure out on a small business level what the typical mark-up is for products bought from a distributor and then sold on retail level by a store. I know, for example, that the margin for GW is pathetic, and I'm trying to avoid a situation where I'm producing an elitist product. I'd like my game to be affordable for everyone and would be happy initially with breaking even or a modest profit.
My intent is to produce something that is decent margin to a FLGS, but also to self-publish a product that won't bankrupt me, either.
Can anyone offer advice or suggestions?
(If this is the wrong place to ask, please let me know. This post didn't look like it belonged anywhere else...)
