Need advice on a desert adventure...

Lannister

First Post
Hello,

In my campaign my players have come to a land where they are supposed to recover an ancient artifact, which is hidden in a tomb in the desert.....
In order to lengthen the adventure i am looking for an adventure which is playing in the desert, or at least in an "arabian" setting......

The adventure shouldn`t be pure hack and slay, I`d much prefer more interaction kind of thingy........

Anyone can give me some recommendations........

Thanks in advance,
L.

It might require some work, but if you have access to them, you may want to try:

--Desert of Desolation (1st Edition AD+D, Modules I3-I5)
--Any of the "Al-Qadim" stuff (2nd Edition)
--"Black Flames" (2nd Edition Dark-Sun adventure.)

Failing that, any of the "Arabian Nights" stories should give tons of great inspiration.

I highly recommend Al-Qadim. Your players may never want to leave the desert again. Does it have to have an "Arabian" flavour? How about Egyptian? Temple of Ra Accursed by Set jumps to mind.

There's also I9: Day of Al Akbar, where instead of searching for an ancient lost tomb, the artifact(s) are hidden somewhere in a desert city... with NPC factions, sewer crawls, &c &c

And the Cup and Talisman of Al Akbar...

(Been sort of waiting for Quasqueton's "Have you played?" thread for this one-- I never got to run it, but was wondering...)

Go immediately to rpgnow.com and download I3-5 "Desert of Desolation" -- it will have everything you need. The middle section (I4, Oasis of the White Palm) is the adventure you describe almost verbatim.

Another old, fun adventure that fits you play might be B4, The Lost City (also available as pdf from rpgnow.com).

There is a Kalamar module for 3e that is set in a desert land that is pretty good with multiple political power groups working against each other. It is for mid-level parties.

Sorry I can't remember the name right now though.
