Need Apocalypsi (yes, plural)

You've got inter-planetary computer networks? One obvious choice for pan-global destruction would be a sentient, alien (pseudonatural?) computer virus.

1. Wipe the memories of everyone on a planet. Let them know how to talk, know the fact that they must eat, etc., but no one knows who they are, or how to use magic, technology, etc. Real confusion.

2. Destroy all standing water.

3. Increase gravity 10 fold.

4. Decrease gravity 10 fold.

5. Destroy the atmosphere.

6. Pull a Tower of Babel on them, and remove language from their minds.

7. Destroy their white blood cells.

8. Turn the entire population (including animals) into vampires. Nothing to feed on...

The psionic entity/silicon life form as computer virus has been done to death. At least from my experience.

I did say it was obvious. :)

However, you're not going to find very many easily comprehensible end-of-world scenarios that are original. It's the sort of thing that a lot of people think about -- and make movies about!

"Ice-9" is another decent scenario.

What is Big Reds ultimate goal? Just bring down the empire? (If I can't have it no one can) Or total destruction of everything?

If you want to screw up the empire just stop interstellar travel. Perhaps find a way to sever the Astral plane. What if an Astral Storm of unprecedented proportions shredded anyone on the plane and distrupted magic cast through it? There are a few exotic drives that would still work but most ships use Starcasters. No more travel or communication means no more empire. Or, if you don't want to cut it off perhaps the astral plane could suddenly become infested with Pseudonatural Living Ships who think that travelers are tasty treats.

If you just want everything dead...umm...throw Galactus at them or something. What about a white hole? It just spews out deadly radiation and junk. Its already engulfed three star systems and is growing exponentially. Anyone caught in its event horizon finds out that time flows backwards there. Yeah, I think they would have trouble dealing with that.

Everything being dead or subgated, preferably the former. That is the goal, the cassic big bad evil thing.

White holes, gates to plane of shadow,... What happens if you try and drop a white hole through a gate to the negative material plane?

I've thought about the Ice-9 scenario, but conversion to a powerful acid instead. Or better yet: To the universal solvent. The stuff then begins eating through the planet's crust, causing massive volcanos, finally resulting in the complete melting of the planet's surface. Ooooh this I like.
