Need downloadable Quintessential Paladin character sheets

Green Knight

First Post
First of all, I got the book the other day and loved it. For a guy whose favorite class is Paladin, the contrast between it and Defenders of the Faith is STRIKING! For one, Defenders of the Faith is pretty bereft of any Prestige Classes that're very interesting. I tend to flip through it wondering if there're any Prestige Classes that're worth taking. Just the reverse with the Quintessential Paladin. Can't decide which Prestige Class to take, there're so many that I like!

I also like how they've made the Paladin more interesting without overpowering it. For instance, the part about Faith Points. I like being able to trade in Cure Disease attempts, as well as Turn Undead attempts for other affects. It's a great way to give the class more flexibility without making it overpowering. I like the Intervention Dice, for one. It reminds me of the Drama Points from Unisystem (Like Buffy, the Vampire Slayer RPG). Makes it more cinematic, for when the character HAS to succeed at something. The Combat Prayers are also great. Gives the Paladin a different style of spellcasting that what other classes get.

Another thing I really liked was how the Paladin can develop his Detect Evil sense. Whether it be to discern lies, use it to fight evil opponents who're invisible, or maintain a sort of evil radar while you're sleeping. A character I'm planning to play, for instance, will be taking the Learned and Track Feats at 1st level (Learned is from Quintessential Paladin. I'll be using it to make Hide, Move Silently, and Wilderness Lore class skills). The Tracking ability for Detect Evil will most definitely come in handy.

The riding tricks introduced are also very nice. Makes those mounted feats a lot more appealing, now.

One of my favorite parts would also definitely have to be the part where they go into detail about the Paladin's Code, give you tips on how to construct your own, providing sample tenets with which to construct that code, as well as give you sample Codes. THAT'S what Defenders of the Faith should've had, but no such luck.

I haven't even read the whole book yet, so Im not exactly sure what Bond Companions are all about, which I take are replacements for the Paladin's Mount, with a weapon in its place. Nor have I gone over the whole Oath and Vow section. But from what I HAVE read, this book is SO much better than Defenders of the Faith!

So are ALL of the Quintessential books this good? And if so, anyone got any suggestions on what I should buy next?

Which brings me back to my original question. That's a pretty nice character sheet at the end of the book, and I wouldn't mind printing it out. Anyone got a link as to where I can find it online so I can download it and print it out? I'd really appreciate a link. Thanks.

Hi there,

Glad you liked the book - Paladins are one of my favourite character classes too :)

We are a little delayed on web site updates at the moment, but keep swinging by our site as we will be posting this character sheet (among others) just as soon as we have finished moving offices.

As for the other Quintessential books, our brief to all our writers is that these books should give players lots of 'cool' things to do with their characters. If this sort of 'sideways' expansion is what you are looking for in a character book, then you should enjoy the rest of the Quintessentials.

Knew I should've put e-mail notification on this.

Anyway, thanks for the reply. I'll make sure to check the official site from time to time to see. So you got an ETA for that? About how long do you expect that'll take?

Also, do you sell character sheets separately? I'm an impatient bastard, so asking me to wait til it gets put up is asking TO much of me. ;) So do you sell character sheets like the standard D&D character sheets sold by WoTC, which give you a generic sheet as well as class-specific sheets? Thanks.

As for the other Quintessential books, I'll DEFINITELY check them out, if the Quintessential Paladin is anything to judge by. Just gotta track down a list of what books are out and decide which ones I'd find personally useful (Doubt there's a "Quintessential Human", which right there eliminates my favorite race as a possibility for a book ;) ).

Actually, The Quintessential Human is on the cards :)

As for the character sheets, give me a week on this, and I'll see where we are in terms of the office move.

great. Now the Green Knight has made me wanna buy Quintessential Paladin. At the rate I'm going, I'm gonna put Matt's children through college.:)

Quintessential Human? You've GOT to be kidding me! LOL! Mind if I make a suggestion? How about introducing some way of making a human be able to be Small or Large? Maybe a Feat or something like that. So a human player can play a Mini-Me type of character or that midget from Fantasy Island on the one hand, and a Bombata (from Conan the Destroyer) or Fezzik (from The Princess Bride) type of character on the other hand.

Glad I could be of service! ;) I wasn't even intending on writing a review, here. I was originally gonna just ask for where I could find downloadable Quintessential Paladin sheets and that was it, but then I got the urge to talk about the book, started writing what I liked about the book, and that post came out. GREAT stuff, man. Seriously. Best $20 I've spent in a LOOONNNGGG time! Most definitely blows away everything I've bought from WoTC with the exception of the 3 core books (Which are now $30). I'm already drawing up a list of the rest of the Quintessential books, putting them in order of priority of what'd be the most useful to me (Quintessential Fighter being #1 on that list).

I'm also planning on buying the Power Classes booklets which a friend told me about a couple days, ago (His girlfriend is gonna be playing an Exorcist of Kelemvor for a Forgotten Realms game he's planning to run). That and my now having seen the kind of work Mongoose puts out has piqued my interest in them. I'm gonna go out and buy a handful of the things, tomorrow (Specifically Noble, Knight, Artificer, and Hedge Wizard). Hey? Who can argue with game supplements that only cost $2.99? That right there alone has me in awe. Has it ever occured to anyone to make game products that're that cheap? I sure haven't seen any that cheap.

I've got:
Quintessential Elf, Dwarf, Fighter, Druid, Samurai. The only one that even slightly disappointed me was Samurai, and after reading through it a few times, I decided that I liked this take on the Samurai and I'm including it alongside the WotC one in my homebrew.
Power Classes: Knight and Hedge Wizard. Very Useful and flavorful, might pick up a few more, they're a steal at that price, and great for my game!

I'm buying Encyclopaedia Arcane: Chronomancy, Constructs, Star Magic, Battle Magic, Chaos Magic, and Demonology, plus the Quintessential Paladin and possibly the Quintessential Wizard.

So yes, I'm a Mongoose junkie, Good Lord, have pity on me.
