I agree with hong, multi into paladin ... big deal you'll only get to use divine health and detect evil ... you'd have a great character to rp with

Heck, put the stat boost at 4th level into Wis, and you'll even be able to cast spells.

Heck, as a paladin you'd even get smite evil (OK, so there'd be no bonus to hit but you'd add one point of damage/level) a mount (eventually), and Aura of Courage too.

OTOH, those would all come with experience penalties unless your DM changed the paladin multiclassing rules or you play in FR and follow one of the deities who allows paladin multiclassing with fighter). After all, neither paladin nor fighter are favored classes for a half-orc so you'd have to keep them within one level of each other. The difficulty of this is that you could start as a fighter, get two fighter levels, and then get three paladin levels but then you'd have to switch back to fighter or start taking xp penalties. And once you've switched to fighter, you wouldn't be able to go back to paladin so after you hit 4th level fighter, you wouldn't be able to avoid xp penalties except by taking prestige classes. (Any further core classes you took would start at level 1 and consequently incurr serious xp penalties until you hit level 3 (and after you exceed level 4) in that class).

a measly 20%!!! bah! he's a 1/2 orc, he can take it! :)

... yeah with an 11 wis, you can get a few spells ...

ask your dm if you can multi back and forth (without halting pal adv).

Which Ravenloft book are the presitiege classes you mentioned in? I did not see them in the main 3rd ed. d20 Ravenloft book.

Thanks for all the advice, im still looking up some of them!

The Knight of Shadows is from Van Richten's Arsenal, an excellent book BTW.

(gratuitous suggestion)

Have him be an orphan or illegitimate son of an oriental character from the Phoenix Clan, become a Samurai and take Iaijutsu focus til you get to about 8 ranks, then multi to anything you want while trying to see if you are worthy of a Phoenix's attention.

If you are, you might become a Phoenix Guard.

Check the House Rules for the PrC for Phoenix Guard.
hehehehehe

Listen, Kristov. Most of the prestige classes are WAY overrated. If you're starting out as a fighter, then continue as a fighter! You really can't go wrong with a bonus feat every two levels. You can specialize your character so much better by chosing feats rather than dealing with the limitations of a prestige class. The fact that you're a half-orc really limits you as well (depending on what your DM allows). The templar suggestion is the best I've seen here; however, I whole-heartedly suggest mapping out the feats you'll be taking in the future, and remain a fighter. You can REALLY specialize your half-orc if you simply stick with the good-old fighter.

Listen, Kristov. Don't waste time and energy with a prestige class when you can really fashion a great fighter using feats alone. A bonus feat every two levels is what makes the fighter the best offensive choice for any half-orc. A prestige class will do nothing more than water him down. The templar is the only decent choice I've seen here. I suggest mapping out your future feats and stick with the fighter. You can truly specialize your character that way, and I think it's your best bet.

So Mike you aren't going to try and plug the Handbooks from S&SS? ;) I mean come on. You could try to help me out here you know. ;)
